The best part.
The ultimate best part is the moment of contact.
And it doesn't have to be big.
In fact, it's better if it's not.
My top 10 list of moments are all small.
A look. You know with
a look. Or a touch.
The simple act of one finger running over the top of your hand.
And I saw it
tonight at Joe's place. He
had a bunch of people over for absolutely no reason at all, which is the
best reason to have a party, I think.
So I took Ethan, and he was really shy.
Wasn't that he was rude, he would talk to anyone that talked to
him. And he was certainly
very solicitous, always made sure that I had a drink, that anyone around
me had a drink, too. And
certainly I was pleased as anything that everyone could see I was with
someone. Not just someone,
but someone as devastatingly good looking as Ethan.
And I know everyone looked twice at him.

He can't help it. He's
the type of guy that everyone looks twice at.
But at one
point, I find myself watching Samantha and Jake.
There's a whole group of people watching Monty's Python's The
Holy Grail, and they're in the back, sitting on the floor next to each
other. Sam's been lusting
after Jake for as long as I've known her.
It seems like the whole world knows she's been lusting after Jake
and for all I know, Jake probably knows it too, and has never done
anything about it. It's one
of those situations where everyone knows Samantha's totally right for
Jake, it's just a matter of him figuring it out without any of us
telling him about it. Because
if we told him, he would never consider it, it's one of those things
he'd have to find out for himself.
And everyone's
laughing at The Knights Who Say Ni, and I'm watching Samantha and Jake,
and all of the sudden, I see it.
