He says one
memorable line a night. It's
like the capper of some sitcom, The Line That Means Everything.
I get one of those a day, and if I write them down, they sound so
generic that he could be saying them to every single girl he comes
across in the course of his day "Can't wait to be alone with
you." "You're the
most beautiful thing I've ever seen" "I never thought I'd meet
someone like you."
Oh God.
See, look at that. I'm
listing them all, and I swear, any girl would kill to have somebody as
gorgeous as Ethan say them to her.
But if it's ALL you're getting from him?
It's like Inst-O-Matic Compliment Machine.
If it's all he says, then it's not as memorable?
Does that make sense? Of
course it doesn't.
Okay, it's like
the movies. You can go to a
movie, and there's a bunch of dialogue, but only line jumps out at you,
right? Like "You
complete me." Or
"You make me want to be a better man."
You would never think it's cool if that was the only thing they
said, right? |
|
Because
if it's that's the only line, well, it's not a movie, is it?
It's either an art performance piece, or it's a foreign
film
Oh my
God, can you tell I've been drinking?
Here's the point. Ethan says maybe five things tops. And the last thing he says is something wonderful like
"I never thought I'd meet someone like you."
And if that's the last thing he says, then he's not real.
And I want real. I ache for real. I'm
staring at a Black Toothbrush in my Toothbrush Thingie and
thinking I've discovered life on other planets, because all he
says is five lines a day and the last one is completely
wonderful and therefore that doesn't make him real.
A Black Toothbrush in my Toothbrush Thingie makes him
real. I'm such a
dumbass.
